Suspected sea pirates today shot dead two persons in the Nembe/Brass waterways in Bayelsa. A victim who preferred anonymity told security correspondents that the gunmen numbered about four opened fire at the passengers boat at okoroma in Nembe local government area and killed two passengers, a young man and a middle-aged woman.
It is reported that the passengers boat was travelling from Yenagoa to okpoma in Brass local government area when the suspected pirates struck and also collected their valuables. Chairman of the Bayelsa state Nigerian Maritime Workers Union, Comrade Loyd Sese who confirmed the incident said five persons were also injured in the incident.
It will be record that suspected sea pirates attacked a tugboat in Southern Ijaw local government area of the state killing a policeman, an Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) personnel and a civilian.
